Carbon Emission Reduction Plan
Rainbows Care Ltd. aims to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. This target aligns with the objectives set by the UK government and procurement policies.
It is estimated that the baseline carbon emission by Rainbows Care Ltd. is approximately 63 tCO₂e (63 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent). Two-thirds of this carbon emissions arise from staff travels for domiciliary care. The remaining one-third is as a result of office energy usage, commuting and waste production.
Rainbows Care Ltd. estimates that its carbon emissions by 2025 will have been reduced to 57.3 tCO₂e(57.3 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent), which would be a 9% reduction mainly as a result of efficient use of energy and reduction in travel.
Our key targets include
A 35% reduction of carbon emissions by 2030
A 50% reduction of carbon emissions by 2035
Net Zero carbon emissions by 2050
Key strategies for reducing emissions include
Transportation: Gradual replacement of fossil fuel cars with electric cars. Also, effectiveand strategic scheduling will help reduce travelling
Energy: Usage of renewable energy and improving energy efficiency in offices during day-to-day practices to minimize wastage of said energy
Procurement: Procuring of materials from sustainable local sources will help minimize travelling and by extension carbon emission
Waste Management: Reduction in paper consumption and use of digital options where possible as an alternative source. Recycling where possible will also be practiced
Staff Engagement: Encouraging sustainable emission reduction practices where possibleand training among staffto show its importance
Key Insight
The most effective way to reduce carbon emission would be to decrease travelling, since it makes us the most significant portion of our emissions due to the nature of home care.
Governance
Management will monitor performance and implementation yearly and continually introduce improvement with the sole objective of reaching our goal by 2050.
